A couple of weeks ago, I jetted down an hour south from Denver to spend a fun girls weekend at Garden of the Gods resort in Colorado Springs with my pals Leah and Abby. It happened to be Mother’s Day weekend, so luckily my mom was able to make it down for some R&R at their lovely spa! Although I have lived in Denver for nearly 5 years now, I had actually never been to Colorado Springs before! I was pleasantly surprised by what a great destination it turned out to be for a little weekend getaway with my favorite blogger pals.
Disclosure: we were offered our stay, spa services, and some meals free of charge in exchange for our honest review. As always, all opinions are my own. Be sure to read all the way to the end because there’s a special booking offer for you guys!
The Garden of the Gods Club & Resort
First of all, this resort has the most BREATHTAKING view. As soon as I walked into my room, I was blown away by how gorgeous the view was. Even laying in my bed, I had a prime view of Garden of the Gods. For those of you who don’t know, Garden of the Gods is the name of the park you can see from the resort. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in Colorado!
Each of the rooms has a patio or balcony that faces that view, and they all have an in-room fireplace! I particularly love that feature since Colorado evenings can get chilly – even in the summer! Not pictured is the spacious walk-in closet with a little fridge and microwave, and a little vanity for getting ready. Then, there is also a huge bathroom with a beautiful shower. You can tell a lot of care went into the design! Check out my room tour below from my Instagram stories to see more.
Here you can see the 2nd floor all has balconies and the bottom floor has patios. I love that everyone gets a front row seat to this view!
Here’s a look at the patio from the bar/restaurant at the club. We had brunch outside here for Mother’s Day.
Once I arrived and got settled in my room, I met up with Leah at the pool for some afternoon rose and a catch up sesh. Leah lives in Colorado Springs, so it was really fun having a local with us to show us around!
Then, Abby arrived, and we spent some time catching up and getting ready for dinner at the club. There are a few places you can eat, and all are open just to resort guests and club members. We had dinner at the Grand View Dining Room and were treated to a wine pairing dinner.
My favorite part of the dinner was letting our server choose everything for us. We gave him an idea of what we liked and didn’t like, and he picked all the wines to go with each course. It was all very delicious, and seriously what is a girls trip without some wine??
After dinner, we challenged Leah to show us the happening nightlife of Colorado Springs 🙂 It’s not a town that is known for its bar scene, but luckily Leah is one of the hip young folks in town and knew the perfect place to take us Denver snobs…a trendy speakeasy!
It’s called Brooklyn’s on Boulder and it’s everything my little hipster heart could ever want in a secret bar spot. I don’t remember exactly how we got in (remember, there was much wine involved already), but Leah had the password and they opened the door for us. The place was busy but not overly crowded for a Saturday, and now that I’m almost 29 (my bday is Friday), I am always on the lookout for fun bars that aren’t loud or crowded (oh how times have changed). Anyway, they exclusively serve gin from Lee’s Spirits, a local Colorado Springs distillery. Now, I’m not usually a gin drinker, but their bartenders definitely know what they’re doing, and whatever delicious coconut gin cocktail I ended up with was absolutely fantastic.
Also, why are Boomerangs the most fun ever?
The Garden of the Gods Spa
The next day, we got up and headed over to Leah’s room for some room service before our spa day. Everything was delicious of course, but the bruleed grapefruit was definitely our favorite!
About this time, my mom and sister showed up, and we headed over to the spa for our treatments. But first, my mom and I took a little detour to the bar for a bloody mary 🙂 And, I took pictures of her cute outfit because after all, I got it from my mama! (we did a little interview with 303 Magazine to prove it)
The spa at Garden of the Gods resort was perfect for Mother’s Day. We all enjoyed being pampered, and the facilities were really lovely. I had a massage, and the three of us all had pedicures. The massage was SO needed. I didn’t even realize how tense I was! But hands down the pedicure was one of the best ones I have ever had!
Pictured above is the Himalayan Salt Room. I really hate saunas and steam rooms because I get way too hot and uncomfortable, so I appreciated a few moments of quiet and meditation in this room instead. Salt therapy is supposed to be very cleansing, but mostly I was just grateful for the relaxation.
Red Rock Canyon Hiking & Old Colorado City
After our spa treatments, my family headed back up to Denver and Abby left to go see her mom, so Leah and I decided to head out for a hike! I wanted something easy, so we passed on the Manitou Incline and opted for Red Rock Canyon instead.
It wasn’t a challenging hike, but it had pretty views and it was really nice to get outside for a bit! After that, we took a quick trip to Old Colorado City for a little shopping. At this point in the day, we were feeling pretty tired, so we only went in a couple shops, but my favorite was definitely Barracuda Bazaar! It was the cutest little boutique with lots of fun, trendy pieces and funny gifts as well. If you watched my Instagram stories, you may have seen me use this puppy egg mold – this is where I got it from! That thing made me laugh so hard, I had to get it for Patrick haha. (I just noticed it has a one star review but it worked perfectly for me so…)
Crystal Park Cantina
Our last night, Leah took me to her favorite restaurant in Colorado Springs, Crystal Park Cantina! It’s such a great hidden gem. The staff was super friendly, we got seated quickly even though it was busy, and the food was great! The margs were enormous haha but really good.
The next morning, we got to experience the Bod Pod…but more on that to come! I have a lot to say about it so it deserves its own post 🙂
If you’re heading to Colorado Springs soon, you should definitely consider staying at Garden of the Gods! It was a great staycation for us, and I am already thinking about planning a trip back with the rest of the family – I think my dad would love the golf course!
Special booking offer! Use code Escape50 when booking your stay at Garden of the Gods Collection and receive a $50 resort credit, per night, to use at your leisure during your stay. That means you can use it at the spa, for golf, on dining – or any of the amenities I shared with you guys!
