The Kentucky Derby is always a fun time here in Denver. Everyone gets dressed up, and takes to the city for various derby viewing parties around town. I’m sure there are plenty of these in other cities, but this year, one of the most awesome parties in the world is coming to Denver! It’s called the Denver Mini Derby and it’s at the brand new Hangar at Stanley Marketplace.

Basically, it’s a Kentucky Derby viewing party with MINIATURE HORSES!

Yes, they are even cuter in person than they are in real life. Remember Lil Sebastian from Parks & Rec?!? The excitement is real, you guys!!!

If you’re in town and are able to make it, you can use discount code “MYBORINGCLOSET” to save $10! Register here, and RSVP on Facebook.

The best part of the event, besides the horses of course, is definitely the charity component. During the mini horse “race,” attendees get the chance to participate in charitable betting for various non-profits in Denver, including the one I mentor at called Minds Matter.

So, whether you’re attending the Denver Mini Derby or another viewing event in your town, I’ve got some great Kentucky Derby outfit ideas for you! Check out the graphic below as well as the slider at the bottom for some ideas.

I love it! I saw this on FB and was super excited when I realized you had a discount code. I’ve gone to different events benefiting Minds over Matter before and I wanted to see how you like mentoring and what kind of time commitment it takes?

I love mentoring. My mentee is awesome, and it’s been a great experience not only getting to know her, but also getting to know the other mentors as well. The commitment is 3 hours a week on Monday nights, and you stay with the same mentee for 3 years. So, it’s a pretty big commitment, but very much worth it in my opinion!
