Greetings from Mexico, my friends! We are celebrating Christmas on the beach this year, and I’m so excited to be here. I’ve been looking forward to this trip for a year! Seriously!
It may sound really weird, but I actually love working out when I travel. It’s a great way to start the day, and I love that I can work out whenever I want to instead of squeezing it in when I have time. Plus, it gives you an extra confidence boost before you put on a bikini. But, when it comes to travel workouts, sometimes you have to get creative with fun, challenging routines that don’t require a gym.
So, my friend Jessica (Semi-Sweet Tooth) and I put together this fun, no-equipment workout that is perfect for my trip and for any of you who may be traveling right now! It’s a pyramid workout, meaning you increase your reps each time, but to fit with the holiday season, I prefer to think of it as a Christmas tree workout 😉 (pinnable image below!)
Remember, be safe when working out and listen to your body!
Just 10! Try doing “real” burpees with a push-up at the bottom. For modification, you can always step back and up instead of jumping.
20 lunges (each side)
Any kind of lunges! Reverse lunge, side lunge, walking lunge, or maybe try split jumps if you’re feeling ambitious.
30 tuck jumps
Really try to get those knees up there and land softly!
40 tricep dips
I like doing mine on a stair, but you can do them on the floor too. Knees bent is also an option.
50 star jumps
Channel your inner cheerleader with this one! Start in a squat and then explode into your jump. Land softly to protect your joints!
60 leg lifts (30 each side)
Keep your hips still and focus on squeezing that booty to lift your leg. You can also do these on all fours. You can do these straight back or out to the side. Whatever you’re feeling!
70 side to side shuffles
Think Heisman-type football run – quick shuffle and lift knee to chest each side. Use the abs!
80 second plank
You got this girl!!
90 seconds jump rope
Bonus if you have an actual jump rope you can use!
100 squat jumps
(There’s no graceful way to take a picture of a jump squat btw.) 100 seems like a lot, but you can do it! Last push!
You go, girl!! Stay healthy on the go, and get after it!
