Boots: Hunter // Socks: Urban Outfitters (similar) // Tights: DKNY // Skirt: Gap (love this one, and this one, and this one)// Shirt: Gap (I love this option from J. Crew) // Sweater: Urban Outfitters // Coat: Victoria’s Secret // Lips: Glo Minerals

Having grown up in Florida and having spent five years in LA, I’m not exactly too fond of winter. I’ve definitely acclimated to it a little more since moving to Denver, but man it still throws me off when we get dumped on like we did this weekend! It’s so easy when it’s cold and gross out to just snuggle up in my sweats and my electric blanket and hibernate until May, but I don’t always get that luxury. So, when I have to be outside in the winter, my motto is: LAYER, LAYER, LAYER.

It is, in fact, possible to still look fashionable in the winter, it just takes a little creativity and some good winter staples to get you through. One of my favorite winter purchases are these Hunter boots. They make such a difference when you have to be out in the snow and the slush. Not only do they brighten up the outfit (and the landscape!), but they keep my feet warm and dry and I can run around without letting the snow slow me down.

Layering on the top and the bottom also helps because duh–you’re wearing more clothes! To keep your layers from feeling bulky, think light layers underneath and maybe something a little bigger like my sweater above as your top layer. This sweater is awesome because the lace detailing gives it more dimension and the illusion of another layer. Then, when you get home, immediately change into sweats, and that’s my winter survival guide in a nutshell.

brb…counting down the days until spring.

Great tips! I’m from NJ so should be more used to the winter, but I’m still always over it by now. I do a lot of leggings under jeans – no one knows but it makes such a difference. I also wear a nude microfiber tank top as a bottom layer almost everyday…that helps a lot too and it usually undetected!
